OpenTyrian

OpenTyrian is a port of the DOS shoot-em-up Tyrian. Jason Emery generously gave the OpenTyrian developers a copy of the Tyrian 2.1 source code, which has since been ported from Turbo Pascal to C. The port uses SDL, making it easily cross-platform.

Tyrian is an arcade-style vertical scrolling shooter. The story is set in 20,031 where you play as Trent Hawkins, a skilled fighter-pilot employed to fight Microsol and save the galaxy.

There are also console builds for Android, Amiga, Atari Falcon 060, BlackBerry, Dingoo, Dreamcast, DS, GameCube, Gizmondo, GP2X, GP32, GCW Zero, Mac OS X, Nokia Internet Tablets, PSP, PS3 Linux, Symbian, Wii, Wiz, and ZuneHD.

If you'd prefer to build OpenTyrian yourself, clone the repository, acquire the SDL and SDL_net development libraries, and...

• on Windows: install MinGW, rub your lucky rabbit's foot, and run make
• on everything else: just run make
