Motivation and Context

#12694

It turns out that short-circuiting the EFAULT behavior on a short read, while perfectly valid,
breaks things on FreeBSD. So until there's a nicer solution, let's just revert the behavior for not-Linux.

Description

It's an ifdef, it's not complicated.

Less hacky solutions I'm more than open to, but it doesn't seem like we have enough information to decide to behave differently in the Linux-specific code at the moment...

How Has This Been Tested?

It built. It passed the tests when I pushed the branch. We'll see past that.

Types of changes

  • Bug fix (non-breaking change which fixes an issue)
  • New feature (non-breaking change which adds functionality)
  • Performance enhancement (non-breaking change which improves efficiency)
  • Code cleanup (non-breaking change which makes code smaller or more readable)
  • Breaking change (fix or feature that would cause existing functionality to change)
  • Library ABI change (libzfs, libzfs_core, libnvpair, libuutil and libzfsbootenv)
  • Documentation (a change to man pages or other documentation)

Sigh, I forgot that using Github's builtin "merge from master" fails checkstyle.

@rincebrain Do you mind squashing the commits? Thanks!

Rebased against master again to hopefully build on FBSD with the FBSD fixes, squashed, and pushed.
