From a39cf36736f5e8c8198e56edb884323acb3a6b2f Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Ralph Giles Date: Mon, 8 Jul 2019 09:28:27 -0700 Subject: [PATCH 1/7] test_atfparser: Covert to pytest. This set of tests were written to use the `unittest` framework from the standard library but we invoke them through pytest, which provides better reporting. Remove the unittest dependency here to align with changes made to other tests. As a minimal change, keep the TestParser class, but remove the inheritance from `unittest.TestCase`. The pytest package instead finds tests based on general introspection. By marking the setUp method, which has a special meaning in the unittest framework as a pytest fixture with `autouse=True` we ensure it is called before every test to set up the member variable. --- pyoracc/test/atf/test_atfparser.py | 5 +++-- 1 file changed, 3 insertions(+), 2 deletions(-) diff --git a/pyoracc/test/atf/test_atfparser.py b/pyoracc/test/atf/test_atfparser.py index e60409e..350e7a4 100644 --- a/pyoracc/test/atf/test_atfparser.py +++ b/pyoracc/test/atf/test_atfparser.py @@ -19,7 +19,6 @@ ''' -from unittest import TestCase import pytest from pyoracc.atf.common.atflex import AtfLexer @@ -39,8 +38,10 @@ from ...model.translation import Translation -class TestParser(TestCase): +class TestParser: """A class that contains all tests of the ATFParser""" + + @pytest.fixture(autouse=True) def setUp(self): self.lexer = AtfLexer().lexer From 5fa4c48ad3e5f27948e86c0ff21af0ef0fd1dfb6 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Ralph Giles Date: Mon, 8 Jul 2019 09:47:31 -0700 Subject: [PATCH 2/7] test_atfparser: Promote tests to module level. Move the lexer fixture into the `try_parse` helper. None of the tests need subsequent access to the lexer state, so there's no reason for it to be shared. Without shared state, the TestParser class can itself be removed. It was necessary under the `unittest` framework, but `pytest` can use module functions instead. This simplifies the code and saves an indent level. --- pyoracc/test/atf/test_atfparser.py | 2179 +++++++++++++++------------- 1 file changed, 1134 insertions(+), 1045 deletions(-) diff --git a/pyoracc/test/atf/test_atfparser.py b/pyoracc/test/atf/test_atfparser.py index 350e7a4..f1074b2 100644 --- a/pyoracc/test/atf/test_atfparser.py +++ b/pyoracc/test/atf/test_atfparser.py @@ -38,1048 +38,1137 @@ from ...model.translation import Translation -class TestParser: - These tests include atf snippets for features which the lexer accepts, but the parser currently skips. They were marked with a commented-out @skip decorator. With the migration to pytest these should become @pytest.skip instead. Instead I moved the annotation to a TODO comment, mostly because I like the style better. I also added basic asserts on the parser result to silence warnings.
