Loving org-trello - thanks for the great work.

Feature request: Is it possible to map checklists in trello to org-mode checklists? It would be great if they could work as detailed here:

http://orgmode.org/manual/Checkboxes.html

The problem is that the TODO states are incorrect, since checklists items should only allow TODO and DONE. I

Hi,

thanks for the kind words and the issues, it's a good feedback!

I will take a look at your link as I do not use the org-mode checklist yet
(I will surely find a new genious way to use org-mode, thx).

Regarding the states, here is how they are used at the moment:

  • all the states are used at the card level
  • I do not care much about the state of the checklist as this does not map
to trello (in my mind anyway)
  • the only state that is used for the items are DONE to check the item in
trello. Every other state, when syncing, uncheck the item in trello

Ok.

I looked into it. The functionality is interesting and the need is here (#16 asks for the checklist functionality).

But this implies some major tinkering with org-mode's api regarding checklist and major thinking on how to integrate with org-trello.

So, status-quo, I don't exclude it but i won't do it right now. Then again, PR are welcome.

Hi again,

It could be possible to exploit setup for this to be integrated.
It hit me this morning on the sub.

Keep my first implementation as the standard one and be able to use the more advanced (certainly more standard) one you propose through some standard emacs way of setup (through some variable setup in the init.el)

But still, I need time to tinker and learn the org-mode's checklist's api to think of a way to achieve this.

Hi,

I did not had time for this yet!

But, for information, I tried a literate approach to simplify the orgtrello code entry - https://github.com/ardumont/org-trello/blob/master/org-trello.org

It's my first attempt to literate programming but I believe it could really help.

Hi,

I've almost finished the 0.1.2 version which will introduce a proxy server for the synchronization (using elnode).
This permits a weaker coupling between org and trello and some potential positive side effects, for example, if we were to code those native checklist, we would have less code to write (concentrating only on the parsing of the org buffer part, woohoo!).

This is awesome!

Hi,

This was kind of a pain but I succeeded in adding it.

Thanks for the suggestions and making me aware of this.
