Bookmarks sync, backup and export

There are three approaches / options which cover somewhat different use cases.
This list is just to help keep them in sync and clarify their differences and use cases better.

I think the only case where "Export All Bookmarks" button wins over the "Auto backup to a local folder" approach is sharing via a messenger, email, etc. Auto backup makes it possible too, but it'll require more actions and will be less obvious to the user.

An "export all bookmarks" option down in the bookmark lists screen would be a quick & easy fix while we wait for a comprehensive and automated backup solution, which is complex and may not be necessary also given how bookmarks are now automatically stored and migrated by Android. But I still like to extract a manual backup and store it somewhere every now and then, and now I have to do this by exporting all of my ~40 lists one by one. If you could just create a zip of all kmzs (IMHO preferable to a single big kmz file with all kmls in it, as it would then allow selective restore easily) and then feed it to the existing kmz sharing code, it could be implemented quickly (I hope).

A thought on this feature request - would it be possible to achieve bookmark sync with syncthing? In that case, which folder in organic maps would need to be synced between the different devices?

IMHO apart from bookmarks a proper backup/export should also include

• settings
• which maps were downloaded (and maybe ask on import whether the suggested maps should be re-downloaded)
