Posted at 2023-06-05 by @gfwilliams The issue really is holding the plug in place - but if you just want power, and can find a way of attaching the plug, the you could just wire to the GND and 5V pins on the WiFi board (these sit next to the Micro USB socket) and you'd be fine Posted at 2023-06-05 by @gfwilliams I should add that you can also get 'mini' MicroUSB->USB type A dongles, so you could just use one of them: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195591571217 I think there are smaller ones available but that's the first i found Posted at 2023-06-05 by muntzen Thanks for the reply! I did end up finding a dongle on amazon - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TAM0MZW and went that route. It's working great, thanks a ton. Love these boards! |

I have a project put together that I want to essentially be a "dongle" - I just want to plug it straight into a USB power source, preferably without having to supply an additional cable. Is it possible to solder up a USB type A male socket (like this: https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Socket-Connector-Replacement-Adapter/dp/B07QY6Z4Y6) straight to the board?
I found this pretty slick unit for doing this with a RPi Zero, but I'd rather use the Espruino WiFi for my project - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08XYKWZN9
Thanks!
