Swell Payouts for marketplace vendors

Hello I'm following this guide; https://developers.swell.is/guides/build-a-marketplace/creating-vendor-payouts

To set up the marketplace in swell.

The guide mentions to trigger the transfer function on order.created webhook... my question is would that not be to early? Should the webhook not fire on the order.paid event instead? Because an order could get created without a payment correct?

Second; how do we disperse the shipping fee across the different stores of the order, is there a best practice on that?

Thirdly; is there a recommended approach for handling refunds? Including the platform fee?

Yes, I think order.paid would make more sense. The guide probably needs to be updated.

It's highly specific to each marketplace and depends on how you decide to calculate shipping. In one example case, a marketplace would standardize pricing ($5 per item) and simply distribute the fee across vendors based on quantity.

Not sure I could recommend anything specific here, but generally if you refund a customer then you would add a negative balance to the vendor transfer.
