It would be nice if you could just execute all statements of the quickstart sequentially without having to add extra code and without getting any errors. It was a bit confusing for me as a cassandra noob (until I looked up what the error meant), I thought maybe something was wrong with the way I installed thrift or something...

Right now, in section "Creating a Column Family", I get

=ERROR REPORT==== 31-May-2012::16:52:40 ===
module: erlcassa_client
line: 74
exception while executing cql query ["CREATE COLUMNFAMILY testdata (KEY int PRIMARY KEY,text_field text, ascii_field ascii,bigint_field bigint,blob_field blob,boolean_field boolean,counter_field counter,decimal_field decimal,double_field double,float_field float,timestamp_field timestamp,uuid_field uuid,varchar_field varchar,varint_field varint);"]: {invalidRequestException,
<<"org.apache.cassandra.config.ConfigurationException: Cannot add a counter column (counter_field) in a non counter column family">>}
** exception error: no match of right hand side value
{error,{invalidRequestException,<<"org.apache.cassandra.config.ConfigurationException: Cannot add a counter column (counter_field) in a"...>>}}

also, Row in section "Returning an entire Column from an individual Row" is undefined (could be retrieved from Rows at "Getting rows from a Column Family, as proplist (dict is the other possible return value format)".
