is this really needed? i wasn't aware of any other way of pronouncing "Bun"

As far as I know, some Japanese people pronounce it as ブン(/bʊn/) rather than バン(/bʌn/). I believe this can be valuable information for non-English-speaking users.

I hear that argument, but including IPA here might lead some English speakers to question whether or not "bun" is pronounced in the usual way, especially since /bʌn/ looks closer to "ban". Even among English speakers the "u" is pronounced with a different phoneme depending on the accent. I think we're okay just letting people pronounce the word on a best effort basis.
