Description

Filled in two missing translations and improved some existing ones with more natural French expressions, which are not a direct translation of their English counterpart.

Motivation and Context [TL;DR]

  • "uncategorized" is a past participle, so "non catégorisé" matches the type.
  • "About" is captitalised, so as "A propos"
  • "Vous pourriez vouloir revenir à la page d'accueil." has three verbs, two auxiliary followed one infinitive—that's quite unusual in French. The intransitive verbs "venir" (to come) vs "aller" (to go), often confuse elementary learners. To understand this, take the simplest example "Venir en France" (to come to France). In this case, the current site is the 404 page, and we're asking (politely) the visitor to go back to the home page (elsewhere), so "(re)venir" should be replaced by other verbs, like "retourner" (to return).
  • "qqch est cassé": I don't know what to say. I'd rather use it for physically broken stuff, or 'casser la tête".
  • "merci d'envoyer un rapport.": nice use of "merci de + verbe infinitif", but "envoyer un rapport" (to send a report) sounds like asking the visitor to do a piece of assignment. "signalez un problème" (to report a problem) would be a more natural French expression, but to avoid repetitions, I've rephrased to whole sentence, so that the tone & tenses sounds coherent. You can use "vous pourriez + verbe infinitif [+ COD/COI]" for polite request/suggestions in French, but the conditionnel doesn't match my impératif "contactez-moi" (contact me) in the 2nd half of the sentence, so the simplest form (simple present) of the verb "pouvoir" (can) matches the impératif "contactez-moi" better, yet polite enough in usual daily situations.
  • Sometimes, a word-by-word translation like "Va vers l'acceuil" (Go to home page) doesn't sound like real French. I prefer using natural expressions that communicate the idea.
  • "ouvrir un ticket sur GitHub" is the French way to say "open an issue on GitHub". You may try replacing "un ticket" by "une issue" or "un numéro" in the search to see the difference.
