Hi Peter,

We are currently using Open Web Analytics to track the usage of a SaaS platform. As we have been reading into the license, we think that this means that a SaaS isn't covered under the GPL. More concrete this means that we don't have to open source the code of the SaaS platform. Open Web Analytics will run on separate worker and only the tracker code will be inserted in the SaaS platform. (as can be read here: 'https://softwareengineering.stackexchange.com/questions/220742/using-full-gpl-libraries-in-software-as-a-service-saas-models' ).

As the company we're doing our thesis for wants closure on this subject, can you confirm this?

Thanks,
Jildert

OWA is licensed under GPLv2.0. This license requires to distribute the source code of the application when it contains code disclosed under GPL. After some research regarding the license, SaaS is not considered as distribution of software.
