VimWiki Diary Integration #4

I would love to integrate papis with VimWiki (specifically the diary).
I don't know exactly what the desiderata are here, but possibly it is as simple as a vimscript which opens the papis explorer > inserts the selected document info (year, name author) with markdown/vimwiki hyperlink to the notes file. I don't know if this could be made to also open the pdf.
Looking at the functionality provided here, maybe this could be achieved by also adding a :PapisNote which opens or creates a note file for the papis document?
Though, in addition to a :PapisNote it would be nice if the above vimwiki markup suggestion was supported, that way the usual navigation through vimwiki would support reaching the papis notes.
I'm hoping for a system which would allow me to aggregate citations related to a project inside a VimWiki entry and quickly navigate their various notes and pdfs. Or to include these in VimWikiDiary entries.
