QMK Ergodox Steno Example

This is the companion repo to my Starting Stenography with an Ergodox blog post.

There are two versions of the steno layout configuration, as talked about in the post:

  • The master branch has a steno keymap layout that speaks to Plover using the GeminiPR protocol (more information)
  • The steno-high branch is mostly the same as the master branch, but the steno keys are configured one row higher on the keyboard. This is how I had my initial configuration, until my hands started hurting due to having to stretch too far for complex chords, hence necessitating bringing all the steno keys down a row into what is now in the master branch.
  • The modified-qwerty-layer branch has a modified QWERTY-based keymap that speaks to Plover over USB using standard keyboard protocols

My daily driver QMK keymaps can be found here.
