Expected behaviour

Under settings it is possible to export and import the configuration settings. As the portable version of the application saves the settings in an .ini file, I assume the routine that handles this could be used.

Actual behaviour

This option is not available.

Steps to reproduce

Open settings.

Bad things can happen when importing certain things, especially across operating systems and desktop environments, so I never dared to write and exporter/importer. Maybe I'll give it an other try nevertheless... "on your own risk" ;)

Makes sense. Maybe export only the safe-values. Things like colors, panels, shortcuts. Maybe refrain from properties like own/nextcloud credentials, git settings. Very luxurious would be to auto-install the scripts + settings, but let's keep it as simple as possible to start with ;)

those aren't problematic

panels

those may be more problematic, beside all kinds of paths and other binary stuff...
hard to tell

18.08.4

  • you can now export and import your settings
    • keep in mind that when importing your settings may get removed and not
every setting will get restored, like the note folder settings and which
      scripts you were using
    • you also will need to adjust some settings, especially across platforms,
but your notes will stay intact
