Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Users are frustrated when the site is slow. Our current status tracking today only shows up/down (https://status.peeringdb.com/) which masks slowness.
We should either enhance or have a second set of metrics that tracks either:
- Time for load (searches, object load)
or
- How often loads happen within a threshold (ex: under X seconds where X is probably between 3-5)
These Service Level Indicators (SLIs) can help us do better.
Who is affected by the problem?
All users
What is the impact?
- Will allow Ops to see how well we're actually meeting user expectations with load time
- Will allow Ops to be track and notify issues with latency before users start to complain
Are there security concerns?
Not that I can think of
Are there privacy concerns?
Not that I can think of
Describe the solution you'd like
See above
Do you think this feature will require a formal design?
Probably
Describe alternatives you've considered
None
Could this feature request need support from the Admin Committee?
No
Deployment approach
Not recommended, but tweaking thresholds is probably good to do over time
What is the proposed priority?
high, this keeps happening and it's difficult for us to point to something showing the problem other than complaints
Provide a rationale for any/all of the above
Helps us provide a higher quality product
