What is IPv6Droid?

IPv6Droid is an Android client for IPv6 tunnels, in order to bring IPv6 connectivity to Android mobile devices on networks that do not support IPv6.

You're seeking a way to access your (smart?) home resources, but they are subscribed to a "new" ISP, swearing on terms like DS lite? You are trying in vain to reach the web site your trade partner in far east? Trying to connect to your super smart futuristic IoT network?

Face the problem: the world has run out of IP addresses for the old internet protocol. IPv4 addresses are rare and sold at expensive prices. The solution is to use IPv6.

Worry no more. IPv6Droid is the one-stop solution of your Android-powered smartphone or tablet to the new world.

What is required to get IPv6 on my device?

Get a device

No matter if it's a mobile phone or a tablet, perhaps even an Android TV (untested).

The device must run one of the following versions of Android:

  • 5.0.x, 5.1.x
  • 6.0.x
  • 7.0.x
  • 8.x
  • 9.x (and hopefully lots to come).

You don't need root access at your Android device.

Get IPv6Droid stable

First time start of IPv6Droid

  • Start the app, wait a few seconds, then press the "Subscribe" button and follow the instructions of the Google purchasing app
  • After completing the purchasing wizard, you see a notice that you have 4 tunnels available.
  • Press the left arrow, or the back key, then select one of the 4 tunnels available from your subscription and press the start button
