theres no config key in mate-configuration-editor for changing gksu and gksudo behavior.
e.g. Apps-> gksu->
force grab,promt, save, to keyring, sudo mode
gksu uses gconf, not mateconf
well tehre are even no gksudo settings. i cant save the password for 10 mins. i have to reenter it all the time and sometimes the newly opened password enter window is not focussed.
you can use gconf-editor
well i know that gconf-editor hast the key, but it does not affect all applications. eg synaptic was still using gksudo. and saving to keyring does not work for gksu then. i just need a way to remember superuser rights.
stefano@hp530:~$ gksu synaptic

this issue is related to this debian bug: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=622791
I think this commit is the solution: http://git.gnome.org/browse/gcr/commit/?id=a595e68a0b324cfbf8489beaec7402f4c91dac98
but it's on gcr 3.3.3, not yet in debian
guess it will take several monthts till it lands in any distro. or will you ship it with mate?
we'll wait... we cannot fork everything! :)
3.2.2-1 ill check when 3.3 comes out
