The file

pgf/tex/generic/pgf/utilities/pgfutil-latex.def

contains the following definition:

\ifx\translate\@undefined % check if \translate is available
  \def\pgfutil@translate#1{\translate{#1}}
\else
  \def\pgfutil@translate#1{#1}
\fi

This seems to be wrong. I assume the order should be revers.

A related question: The file

 pgf/tex/generic/pgf/utilities/pgfcalendar.code.tex

contains a similar definition:

\ifx\translate\@undefined
  \def\translate#1{#1}
\fi

Are both definitions really necessary?

Thanks for your work.
