I have just given a shot to the new maven build and it seems that the regression tests are run all the time even by using "package" or just "package -P release-artifacts".
I am missing something, or is there no way to build only the jar files without running the tests?

You need mvn package -DskipTests -P release-artifacts to get that

Thanks! I'll make note of that. This still compiles the test jars though, right?

I do not think current build procedure builds test jars.
Why do you need them?

-DskipTests skips just execution. Test classes are still compiled under pgdbc/target/test-classes

OK cool. I work with some folks that like having the compiled test jars and run the tests by themselves. That's quite particular I agree.

Just in case: mvn jar:test-jar builds a test jar
