phoss SMP Vagrant integration

This Vagrant setup was originally provided by @jerouris - thanks a lot for this!

How to use it:

  • Download and install Vagrant from
  • Download and install VirtualBox from
  • Have the SMP keystore JKS at hand and copy it into the provision/keystore folder
  • Copy provision/keystore/keystore_vars.template.yml to provision/keystore/keystore_vars.yml
  • Modify the created file provision/keystore/keystore_vars.yml with your keystore configuration and the unique SMP-ID
  • Run vagrant up and wait for the initial setup
  • Once it is finished, open in your browser
  • The default login is:
    • User:
    • Password: password

Using a proxy server

If a proxy server is needed to download all the relevant information, the following steps are necessary:

  • Install the Vagrant plugin using vagrant plugin install vagrant-proxyconf
  • Modify Vagrantfile and add the following entries:
  config.proxy.http     = ""
  config.proxy.https    = ""
  config.proxy.no_proxy = "localhost,"
  • Modify playbook-xml.yml:
    • Search the line containing mvn clean install and add the following parameters afterwards: -Dhttp.proxyHost= -Dhttp.proxyPort=8080 -Dhttp.nonProxyHosts="localhost|" -Dhttps.proxyHost= -Dhttps.proxyPort=8080 (note: there is no -Dhttps.nonProxyHosts!)

Connect to the virtual machine

There is not direct login with username and password! You need to open an SSH connection to the machine using vagrant ssh and than call sudo passwd ubuntu inside the SSH session. This allows you to define a password for the ubuntu user which you can than use to login to the box.

Note: Windows users need an ssh executable in their PATH. Get one at

Note: because the ubuntu/xenial64 box is used as the basis, the default shell user is ubuntu and NOT vagrant!

Note: the virtual machine has an English keyboard layout! Use sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration to change it.

Note: when using Virtual Box 6.x on Windows, make sure to disable Hyper V and reboot Windows

You can’t perform that action at this time.
