UX: Add UI settings for selecting the start page

As a user I would like to be able to choose where I want to land when opening Photoprism.

I prefer seeing my albums instead of my whole library when entering the app, so it would be nice to have an option on Settings to choose the default landing page for Photoprism.

Any news about that? I would like users to land on the well-managed "album" page instead of the generic and shuffled "search" page. Thanks!

As you can see from our public source code, users without the right to perform a search will be directed to the albums page, similar to what you suggest:

Based on that, we wouldn't just need a simple landing page selector, but it needs to take into account your permissions and be able to specify alternatives - which makes the whole thing more complex. That's the reason why we haven't been able to implement it yet (especially not before releasing all the multi-user features on which it ultimately depends).

My two cents, I have found that "Folders" or "Places" are more enticing starting pages, and encourage the user to perform targeted, hierarchical browsing, instead of never-ending scrolling in order to find something.
Keep in mind we are talking about inexperienced users who cannot perform searches efficiently, do not feel secure about menu choices and will easily give-up. I am very looking forward to this!
