A few IDEs (e.g. http://www.jetbrains.com/phpstorm/whatsnew/index.html) offer the ability to create "custom code folding regions" like those in C#.
For example, there is the Visual Studio style (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/9a1ybwek%28v=vs.71%29.aspx):
And, there is the NetBeans style (http://wiki.netbeans.org/FaqCustomCodeFolds):

Would it make sense to specify which style of "custom code folding regions" should be used in the future (i.e. as the PSR-2 grows to cover comments and documentation blocks)?
I would recommend the Visual Studio style.
By standardizing "custom code folding regions" within PHP frameworks, IDE developers can have a standard to which to follow.
The IDE's seem perfectly able to fold functions and methods.
We're only looking to standardise existing popular things in the PHP community.
The only documentation syntax that's used widely in PHP is PHPDOC, there doesn't seem to be a high demand (if any) for this type of feature.
Thanks for the suggestion, appreciated.
