2014 02_Meeting
IRC meeting for February 2014. See also the 2014-02 Meeting IRC Log.
Currently the program logic and the visual output are mixed together, so the script may send a portion of the output and then continue the logic. It could be easier to maintain and edit if the logic and output templates were separated. Also: would plain-PHP templating be enough, or would we resort to a template engine like Smarty?
After some discussion about whether the benefits of implementing an MVC design plan outweigh the workload of transitioning the code base, it is agreed that Chanaka will work on a proposal and begin designing what this may look like. No one objects to the idea outright, however there is concern about whether we can gradually switch over and how much work it will create. We will probably revisit this discussion during the 2014-03 Meeting after reviewing his proposal.
We should vote on committee member changes:
- remove Dieter (on his own request)
--Nijel 16:55, 10 February 2014 (CET)
Dieter's resignation is accepted unanimously. We wish him well and thank him for his contributions.
Let's conclude about this, after reading the reactions on the devel list.

There wasn't much interest in response to Marc's post to phpmyadmin-devel, so for now we are not pursing a mobile version. It will remain an open feature request and may at some time become worth the developer time, but at this point we don't see much interest in this feature.
There was further discussion about a recent design change proposed by Edward Chen, which may have some good ideas but overall is too much of a deviation from the standard interface to directly implement. Further discussion will likely occur on the mailing list.
I suggest to remove it from the list, due to not having a possible mentor and the uncertain direction we see for this.

The proposal was accepted, the Synchronize feature will be removed from the GSoC ideas list for the reasons stated in the proposal.
Let's make a decision about this issue. --Lem9 16:59, 12 February 2014 (CET)
We agree that the hotel is acceptable however the contract is for one room more than we need. We'll see if the hotel will remove one room from the contract for a reasonable cost, if not we should cancel the contract and book elsewhere. Marc will initiate the conversation.
We will ask for a booth at LinuxTag and work out more details if/when we are approved.
