Where are you getting the lirc module from? I expect this to use python-lirc, which I'm thinking about archiving tompreston/python-lirc#28 (comment)

Can this be fixed to use python-evdev instead?

I am using Raspbian GNU/Linux 10 (buster) on a Pi model B.

I simply installed python3-lirc from the Raspbian repository.

I do not know about python-edev.
