This issue is a proposition for a new feature which i think should be native to the DAM part of Pimcore.

Actually we can protect asset from public access by doing like this:

The purpose of this issue is to provide a button to set "private" an asset.
To make it easy for this first implementation, inheritence could be used. If a parent is private, all children will be private. It will be more easier to manage it for administrator (than checking many many files).

I know it could be done via a combination of events and properties for assets, but it would be really nice to have a friendly UI (like a button) and natively to handle this.

I hope it make sense, and i think it could be a really valuable addition not so hard to implement.

Best regards.

As idea, this status protect/no protected could be just linked to publish/not published.
So no button to add, just to protect unpublished asset. This way this is more easy to implement.
