Include Piwik in the popular SimpleScripts scripting service. This will provide webmasters with an easy and quick way to install and deploy a Web Analytics solution on their self hosted sites.
For SimpleScripts info and integration guidelines see: [http://www.simplescripts.com/]
Quickly reviewing the website, I couldn't find the specs for integrating a software to their offering. They however mention that they are compatible with cPanel. Not sure what it means...?
All I could find were some requirements:
Information on getting included in the SimpleScripts system:
SimpleScripts Script Packaging:
To get script included in SimpleScripts:
Information on affiliate program:
The following enquiry sent to the friendly folks from SimpleScripts:
''I am the Piwik Marketing Coordinator and we are very interested to have our product included within the SimpleScripts auto installer. Many Piwik users are also Bluehost and SimpleScripts clients and they have been asking us to initiate the required steps to simplify Piwik installation.
''Piwik is an open source web analytics software, aiming to be an alternative to Google Analytics. You can find more info and a demo on http://piwik.org/.
''We currently have over 25,000 active users and 250k downloads, we are translated into translated in 33+ languages. We believe that both projects would stand to benefit from such an effort.
''Please point us in the right direction and information on the required steps we need to follow
As yet no response to the above enquiry. I am resending in the hope that we will get a response from the SimpleScripts team on this occasion.
''Piwik is an open source web analytics software, aiming to be an alternative to Google Analytics. We have studied the requirements to become a SimpleScript and feel that Piwik fulfils 100% of these requirements. You can find more info and a demo on http://piwik.org/.
''We currently have over 25,000 active users and 250k downloads, we are translated into in 33+ languages and are about to launch a sister website in German. We believe that both projects would stand to benefit from such an effort.
''Your response to our enquiry would be greatly appreciated.
I think we're on to a winner here. Simplescripts is the auto installer of choice for Bluehost and Hostmonster hosting services. To get included in Simplescripts is going to give us some great exposure and access to potentially a very large number of new Piwik customers.
Here's some recent stats from Bluehost:
Total Domains Hosted : 1.9+ million domains
Total Paying Hosting Customers: More than 525,000
Total Servers: 850+ (ALWAYS rotating out older servers)
Total Sales/Billing/Support Requests Per Day: Approximately 5,000
Number of new customers (not domains) added each day (Mon-Fri): 800+
Number of new customers (not domains) added each day (Sat, Sun): 500+
Number of new domains added each month: 50,000 70,000
Anyway, here's the email I received just a moment ago from the Simplescripts Team:
''We've had requests for your software as well, and we've actually already determined your software would fit well with our service. We'll look into making this final, and let you know when it's ready to go. Shouldn't take longer than a few days.
great great news! Thanks Robert for pushing this.
Simplescripts have requested a 32x32 Piwik icon. Have supplied 32x32 equivalent of the Piwik favicon. See attached GIF image.
Piwik is now part of Simplescripts!
Received the following email from the Simplescripts team earlier today:
''Piwik is now live on SimpleScripts! You can see the installation page here:
''You and your community can install just about anywhere with SimpleScripts, and your webhost doesn't even need to support it. Everything works over FTP. You can also import existing installations into SimpleScripts for one-click upgrades.
''If you have any questions, please let me know. When/if you setup your own account, let me know and I'll attach the Developer permissions to your account so you can review statistics about installations, removals, upgrades, restores, etc.
Replied to Ben as follows:
''That is excellent news!
''I will relay your email on to the rest of the team. We will publish an announcement to our blog (http://piwik.org/blog/) over the next few days informing our community of this great news. Those that currently have access to Simplescripts but perhaps have been holding back - will be absolutely thrilled.
''In the meantime I have created a Simplescripts account with userid: robert(at)piwik(dot)org. If there are now any requirements that we need to meet as far as giving Simplescripts a free plug or putting a button/widget on our site please me know.
''FYI... you can subscribe by email or by RSS to the changelog feed at: http://piwik.org/changelog/. Alternatively, you can call http://api.piwik.org/1.0/getLatestVersion/ which returns the latest version.
I have re-opened ticket because there are still a couple of tasks that need completing.
