What's the backend engine the framework use while running on macOS with AMD GPU?
Is it OpenGL, Metal, or RoCM?

We recommend Metal for Mac due to better performance but OpenCL will work as well.

As Choong mentioned, OpenCL and Metal are both available. There is some evidence that OpenCL actually performs better on some GPUs: https://www.andrey-melentyev.com/plaidml-on-apple-metal.html

I would try each one and use the one that works best for you. You can select a backend at anytime by running plaidml-setup.

Closing this for now, please let us know if you have any other questions or need help getting started.

This should be in an FAQ or something like that.
