That's awesome 🚀
Thank you very much @utkarsh2102, @samueloph, and @jpleau for all your efforts here, it's great to have polybar finally in the official debian repos 😃

Yeah, we can just add other distros once they officially have polybar in their repos.
How long does it normally take for a package to get from testing into stable on Debian?
|
Hi Patrick,
The stable release happens every 2 years. The next stable release, Bullseye, is planned for somewhere during April to July next year. The exact release date hasn't been announced yet. Since it's going to take yet another year, we decided to backport to the current stable release, buster. Thus the suite is called "buster-backports". |
|
Ah I see, so stable doesn't get any new packages once it's released? |
No. The new packages go to unstable. Which then migrates to testing (after making sure there's no regression and stuff). The testing becomes the new stable. That is, Bullseye is testing, which will be rolled out as a new stable release next year. To get a new package to stable, the only way is to backport them. |

Interesting, thanks for the explanation :) |
Polybar is now finally available in Debian (and it's derivatives)! ❤️
