Request for community feedback on our new experimental ChatGPT integration #9116
Comments
I dont have Business Edition but I would think that its not good idea to integrate ChatGPT to Portainer because it might be security risk. It might give bad responses that some may execute without second thought. In my opinion its better to focus on Portainers main task instead of integration miscellaneous things to it. If this is optional feature then its maybe OK as long as it doesn't connect your Portainer to OpenAI server without that API Token. Not like the Matomo script that executes even when statistics are disabled in settings. |
@cwchristerw, thanks for the feedback. |
Hey, LocalAI author here, I think this is great and would be really cool to see Portainer be able to leverage solutions like https://github.com/go-skynet/LocalAI . In this way there is no need of data to leave your server. From a technical point of view should be rather easy, it is enough to let the user specify a URL for the OpenAI API server endpoint |
I strongly urge caution. I don't think a documentation simulator is something that should be added to any product.
That has no business being in a commercial product, and I don't want to see it in an open-source one either TBH. |
If you want community feedback, try adding it to the community edition. |
It would probably be costly @jdelta1 |
The community can't give their feedback, it doesn't make sense. |
I don't have a credit card, so I cannot use ChatGPT integration (openai only allows cc transactions), however I do have a GitHub Copilot subscription. It would be cool to have it work with GitHub Copilot too. I am not sure if it is possible though, but maybe a consideration point. |
No, just No. |

Hello you people!
In Portainer Business Edition 2.18.3, we introduced a new experimental ChatGPT integration - hopefully you've given it a try.
This allows you to use your own OpenAI key to interact with ChatGPT (3.5, at present).
We prime requests to ChatGPT with context around the fact you're using Portainer and basic information about the type of environment you currently have open (whether Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, etc.). Note that we don't send any specific information about your deployments.
You can ask for examples of manifests, explanations of terminology and whatever else you like.
We'd really appreciate your feedback on this feature - what are your likes, dislikes and ideas for improvements?
James T.
Product Owner, Portainer
