It segfaults with:

pmbootstrap qemu --display=sdl,gl=on #default
pmbootstrap qemu --display=sdl,gl=off
pmbootstrap qemu --display=gtk

But it works properly with:

pmbootstrap qemu --spice

I have noted that the splash screen is also only working with the --spice version (/dev/fb0 is only present there), that is probably related.

Hmm I guess we only support framebuffer and in the other modes you just have a proper KVM/DRI setup

I think so too, but afaik SDL2 should work on KVM/DRI as well.
@craftyguy: any idea?

I've noticed that using DRM with directfb does not work on the N900, and I seem to recall someone also trying it with another device that supported DRM and reporting similar difficulties. It's quite possible that the DRM backend for directfb is broken.

When you run osk-sdl, what are you setting DFBARGS to? If you are setting system=fbdev, then try removing that piece.

Note that this issue also caused a problem for one of the KDE contributors wanting to bring more people into Plasma and it's development. Since it seems that they have an interest in using our easy way to setup a VM with Plasma Mobile, it'd be nice to figure this issue out. We can't keep telling people to "just disable FDE for now" 😉
