Hello, this popup appear often without reason, because there is no external modification.
I think it's when you work on few sketches, and you switch between them and you've write on it.
Some time there's a lot of windows popup open for the same sketch.

Just in case this is helpful earlier today I was able to reproduce it consistently when editing and saving a sketch while it was running. The error appeared consistently and then when I edited and saved the sketch with it not running, the error did not appear.

Unfortunately with some tests now with a simple practically empty sketch the error seems to be appearing more erratically so I'm not sure I am right about the above. It might have been something else.

Hopefully this is a little bit helpful.

@pvrs12 Do you think you could look into this? I'll check it out otherwise.

I know this was ages ago, but I took some time (finally) to look at this and I haven't been able to reproduce this. Maybe some other change has fixed it? Or maybe I'm missing something key with testing it?

Nah, no other changes have been made since I shut it off. We had multiple reports, however, so I'm inclined to believe there's an issue.

I first wrote it on debian linux but I've also tested it on windows. I don't have access to a Mac to check if the error appears there

Think I have this fixed for 3.0a6. For some reason, OS X is reporting the files as modified offset by exactly 1000 ms.

I'm glad you were able to find that exceptionally strange bug. Sorry I wasn't able to keep up with this without a mac

I'm seeing this bug on windows with version 3.0.1 on windows 7. When I run my sketch and then close it, processing constantly prompts me if I want to reload until I click "Yes". Clicking "No" only makes the popup immediately reappear. Also, after I click yes, one of my files (tabs) is gone. However, I can recover it by renaming the .tmp file for it. The bug is intermittent, but when it happens it's really annoying and kind of scary. I was afraid I had lost work the first time it happened.

Update: I did just lose some work on a file. What I had after my last save is gone. This is unacceptable for an IDE. Is there some kind of config setting to turn this off? The bug seems to happen if I save a sketch, focus away from it, and then focus the IDE again.

Lost several files within one sketch after getting this message and "reloading" the sketch.
Any help if I mail the sketch to someone?

There's a new issue here: #3965 that's probably what you're seeing. If not, please file a new bug. The problem reported here has been fixed (even though the symptoms may be similar.
