During the installation of Trident-x64-20180831.iso I noticed there was not any option
for backup recovery from a life-preserver backup.

Integration with the Life Preserver utility has not been implemented on the ISO.
In the meantime, you might try installing Life Preserver (pkg install lpreserver) post-install and restoring your backed-up data then.
