#1786 suggests that a series could exist where the head chunk is evicted but
memorySeries.headChunkClosedis not set to true so that a new sample will be appended to an evicted chunk (which panics). The main suspect here is that this happens as a result of crash recovery (if it's not an entirely different cause as discussed in #1786).
