Invalid query not correctly handled in graph UI

What did you do?

Executed an invalid query, like count{job="kaput"})

What did you expect to see?

Error message and no js errors in console.

What did you see instead? Under which circumstances?

Spinner spins forever, errors in js console

The problem is that the new elements display introduced in #2532 doesn't handle failed queries and always tries to extract information provided by xhr.responseJSON.data.result.length.
