Would an etcd service discovery pull request be accepted?

No, this has been discussed in the past. There is no standard layout of targets in etcd, we don't want to prescribe one, and a general solution would have to be similar in complexity to [confd](http://www.confd.io/) and `file_sd`, so the preferred way is to just use confd (or anything else) and file sd.
