Proposal

Is very important to have a ftp/http/https repo forthis pkg or if not to make a modification on "Watch" button in order to be able to follow the new releases for: prometheus/ node_exporter/alertmanager not to enter from time to time to check this.

What did you expect to see?
"Watch" button from here in GitHub to have the possibility to be notified on new releases.
Also a great idea will be to have a repo ftp/http/https?

What did you see instead? Under which circumstances?

  • Nothing.

Environment

  • CentOS Linux release 7.5.1804 (Core)
  • System information:
insert output of uname -srm here
    Linux 3.10.0-862.6.3.el7.x86_64 x86_64

  • Prometheus version:
insert output of prometheus --version here

  • prometheus, version 2.2.1
  • Alertmanager version:
insert output of alertmanager --version here (if relevant to the issue)
  • alertmanager, version 0.15.2

The official place to watch for all new releases is the prometheus-users mailing list, where they'll be in an email with an [ANN] subject.

Hi the feature you're asking for is a feature request for Github. I also have wanted just the release updates, and there are two avenues:

Subscribe to: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/prometheus-users and then only filter on [ANN] in the subject.
Follow the release page's ATOM feed: https://github.com/prometheus/prometheus/releases.atom

I subscribe to the ATOM feed and then use a service like: https://blogtrottr.com/ to get an email on releases.

Coming to the FTP/HTTP/HTTPS downloads, the release page has the HTTP/HTTPS methods in addition for you to download the master here: https://github.com/prometheus/prometheus/archive/master.zip

I'm not sure adding FTP would be any useful. Hope this answers your request.

Ok, thank you. But in my opinion there must be an improvement on this aspect. The community for prometheus is growing and there is only this prometheus-users mailing list that I sincerely don't like, is a big thing difficult to track and usually I've solved by myself the problems instead of asking or taking something from there.

But in any case thank you for the support.
Kind Regards,
Florian
