Server hangs in shutting down #4978

Bug Report

What did you do?
Trying to restart prometheus server.

What did you expect to see?
Clean shutdown / start.

What did you see instead? Under which circumstances?
Hangs in shutting down after msg="Scrape manager stopped":

  • System information:
$ uname -srm
Linux 3.10.0-862.14.4.el7.x86_64 x86_64
  • Prometheus version:
prometheus, version 2.4.3 (branch: HEAD, revision: 167a4b4e73a8eca8df648d2d2043e21bdb9a7449)

This could be fixed by #4922. You could try v2.6.0-rc.0 and see if it helps.

I'm closing it for now as v2.6.0 should fix the problem. Feel free to reopen the issue if it isn't the case.
