according to issue #97 Propel 1.6.3 doesn't accept an occurrence of an "_" element like in the following column definition:

<column name="type" phpName="Type" type="CHAR" sqlType="enum('tel_in','tel_out','fax')" required="true"/>

please change the pattern or is there a reason for not accepting it?

any other special character we should be aware of? Let's avoid another ticket by getting the requirements correct this time.

it also fails on enum(...,'AMEP/Other',...)
forward slash is missing in the pattern. i wonder why it needs to be validated at all? mysql propably lets you put other characters in there as well.
