Incompatible Addons

This page should document problems arising with the usage of Thunderbird Conversations and other Addons

Virtual Identity

Description of Virtual Identity

Virtual Identity allows users to use a catchall email address at his own domain, and assign a custom email address to each contact. Among the extension's features is that when replying to a message the From field of the reply will be set to the value of the To field of the original message.

Description of incompatibility

Thunderbird Conversations does not support the use of Virtual Identity for replies, in either the quickreply interface or when opening the reply in a Compose window. In both cases, the To address of the original message is put in a CC field of the reply. Please integrate support for Virtual Identity in Conversation View.

To reproduce

1) Install both Virtual Identity and Thunderbird Conversations.
2) Receive and email addressed to an address for which you do not have an Identity configured.
3) Click Reply

It can be seen that the original To address is now in the CC field, and the To field is set to a configured identity.

Muttator / Teledactyl

Description of Muttator and Teledactyl

Muttator (and it's fork Teledactyl) is an addon for Thunderbird which adds keyboard control to most Thunderbird interface items in a manner similar to the VIM text editor. Especially useful is the ability to select messages and scroll from the home row of the keyboard.

Description of incompatibility

In Muttator and Teledactyl with Conversations the "scroll message pane" and "open links" features do not work.

To reproduce

1) Select a message.
2) Press "i" or "m" to switch focus to the message pane.
3) Press "j" to scroll down, and "f" to open a link. Notice that neither "j" nor "f" work.
