I enjoyed some talks more than others, but [MongoDB](http://www.mongodb.org/display/DOCS/Home), [Ruby Arduino dev](http://github.com/atduskgreg/rad) and [experimental driven development](http://vanity.labnotes.org/) talks were all pretty good. I'm interested in playing with MongoDB now, just to see what it's like to use a database that does not use SQL as a query language. I also liked the short talks given by some Japanese Rubyists. They seemed very enthusiastic about the language (and Japanese food).

I have the week between Christmas and New Year's day off. I have a list of things I want to do, but so far I've only been knitting. The [February Lady Sweater](http://www.flintknits.com/blog/?p=151) is close to completion. I have one more sleeve to go. It's been mostly painless knitting this. I left out the eyelet increases in the yoke which kept it from being too big. I can do gull lace in my sleep now.

In an effort to use up a bunch of stashed Cascade 220, I'm attempting to knit [owls](http://needled.wordpress.com/2008/11/22/owls/). I'm knitting a size large in hopes of getting an extra small. So far, it's a little on the big side, but I think it will fit. Otherwise, [Sophy](http://knitsnotesetc.com/) gets it in exchange for all the nice things she's given me. :)
