Feature request: Offer to encrypt file system option (e.g. useful for GDPR) #2759
Please could there be a option to encrypt all or specific parts of the filesystem, provided the platform supports it.
I would think this would enhance security for both local and production environments.
Existing manual approach here for website code area (docroot): https://superuser.com/questions/137790/running-a-web-server-with-an-encrypted-file-system-all-or-part-of-it
But need to consider how to encrypt areas of the filesystem that the database uses.
Swap space encryption: https://askubuntu.com/questions/463661/encrypted-swap-partition-for-14-04
In the meantime, while there is still not a feature for this, I am making it possible another way by building a server more manually, to achieve encrypted file system, using the following resources and making use of Docker:
I've applied the above solutions for the building of my production server.
Thanks again though for a great tool in puphpet. I will continue to use it to build local VMs, upon which I will apply the above for local development to mimic the production server.
