ALSA fails because of discontinuous ID# #709

Pd fails to connect to the ALSA system when the IDs of the ALSA cards are discontinuous or don't start at ID 0.
The error output will be: alsa : Invalid value for card

The problem and workaround are described in this thread from 2016:

To simulate the issue modify
/lib/modprobe.d/aliases.conf

edit the lineoptions snd-usb-audio index=0
try for example -3 or 3 to mess up the ID ordering
This is also the workaround to get ALSA to work if the IDs don't start with 0.
Possibly must log in the user again for this to take effect.
