Here are a couple of suggestions that can increase keyboard patching methods, and save lots of mouse miles and clicks (and their CO2 usage):

  • Ctrl+Return open/close object for edition: This is a feature present in Pd-Extended, which made patching faster: if a single object was selected, pressing Ctrl+Return would either open or close the text edition in that object - starting with a full text selection, and ending with a selected object.

  • Home/End go to beginning and end of lines: That is the expected behavior of any program these days where text has to be edited.

  • Ctrl+arrow jumps to next word: idem

  • Ctrl+arrow+Shift selects whole word: idem

  • in the help browser (Ctrl+b)

    • pressing a key jumps to the files beginning with that key. Ideally, pressing more keys narrows the search more.
    • pressing home/end goes to the top/bottom of the list, instead of moving the list to left/right
  • when editing text inside an object - Ctrl+a selects all text inside that object, instead of the whole canvas
