Log to ~/Library/Logs/ on Mac OS X #182
OS X comes with a log viewer, Console.app, that looks for logs in ~/Library/Logs/, /Library/Logs/, and /var/log/ by default. It would be nice if pip logged to one of these directories, rather than its own ad-hoc ~/.pip/pip.log in tip.
http://bitbucket.org/callahad/pip/changeset/7d86ca32703b is a simple change to address this for framework installs. I'll leave it up to the discretion of the maintainers as to whether or not the scope should be expanded to all uses of pip on Mac OS X.
Also, it might be worth noting that the folks behind Homebrew, a popular OS X
It might be nice to move it upstream. :)
