We're seeing pip install take over an hour in buildbot, but when run locally it only takes 5 or so minutes. There are no essential difference between logs from each (both using cached packages etc.) and lacking any kind of timestamps it's impossible to narrow down what exactly is taking forever.

IMO at least the complete log should include timestamps to assist in debugging.

Closing this. I think it is better solved by using -vvv` to increase the verbosity of pip in your buildbot run and then using the timestamps there. I intend to remove the--log`` feature at some point in the future.
