This is the output I get from downloading the virtualenv 1.6.1 tarball and running it with my Debian-installed python3.2 interpreter. It highlights multiple issues:

  • "No module named tokenize" -- it seems somewhere early in Python3.2's startup, tokenize is needed, but not available. import tokenize works fine later on.
  • It seems easy_install is gone, that's why the installation of pip fails.
  • After the installation, there are no activate scripts in env/bin.

This is about to be fixed on develop and is a duplicate of #137

Can you try my fix-py33 branch with pnasrat/virtualenv@22d66cc
