When one monitor switches to the group that the other monitor is on, the windows are not redrawn to the correct monitor. The WindowName widget, however, is correctly updated. This leaves you in a situation where each monitors WindowName displays the name of the window on the other monitor.

Once in this state, opening or closing any window will redraw the windows to the correct monitor.

I am having this issue on the RatioTile layout when two Screens are set in my config. RatioTile with only one Screen works as expected. The Max and Stack layouts do not experience this problem at all.

Cortesi mentioned in IRC that he could not duplicate the issue with RatioTile, but that he did see something similar with Max (which works for me), leading him to believe it may be a bug deeper in qtile.

@mattharrison

RatioTile author here. Also cannot reproduce this. What is your platform?

Works for me on gentoo and Ubuntu 10.10.

I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 and fairly recent (last week-ish) git checkouts of all dependencies except for libxcb which I installed via apt.

Additionally, here is my config: https://bitbucket.org/dmpayton/dotfiles/src/32d6fe53e5a3/qtile/config.py

@mattharrison

Hmmm, do the testcases run correctly? Can you get a consistently failing testcase?

@mattharrison

Hmmm maybe I'm seeing something similar to this. I can't reproduce using your description but I am seeing a window (happens to be java...) that is displayed on all the groups... Disappears when I open a terminal, reappears when I close them.

Hi @dmpayton, has this been fixed? I believe the above commit is in 0.5.

I setup a second monitor on Friday and ran with it all weekend. I didn't run into this problem, so I'm going to close this out.
