Original issue 814 created by carlosjosepita on 2011-09-21T07:39:56.000Z:

quodlibet starts hidden when it has been closed while minimized into the systray (for example, closed from the systray menu). It may seem like consistent behavior (it starts as it has ended) but most of the time it's just useless, forcing the user to open the window before doing anything else. In fact, it's worst than that because it starts visible and disappears a fraction of a second later, making an unpleasant effect. I think it should start always visible or at least provide a command line option to force visibility.

See revision bea628e

I agree you, but this has to wait until plugins support command line arguments (I can't seem to find a bug report for this)

Also, I'd like an option to force QL to start hidden, since I run it in autostart and mostly use keyboard shortcuts and the tray icon to control it.

Another idea: add an option to start QL minimized (iconify in gtk terms). In case the tray icon or similar gets activated and the main windows is minimized it will hide the window.

This solves the problem that starting QL hidden might lead to the app getting lost without a way to retrieve it again.

This all depends on whether we can accurately track the minimized state.
