A problem with XPath selection is that the structure of code blocks will depend on the roxygen2 version used. Edit: actually no, it should be fine.

Once non R code blocks are extracted, the code & language could be extracted and this could be fed to rmarkdown::pandoc_convert() without too much hassle.
