This has only happend sense I've upgraded to rails 3.1.0.rc1. I'm running OSX 10.6, ruby 1.9.2,

I believe I've fixed my problem. I set adapter: mysql2 instead of adapter: mysql in database.yml

I apologize for the noise.

Cheers,
-Cody

awesome, glad I could help.

100% usefull. Thanks!

A note to anyone who finds this issue while researching this error when using Rails 3.1 with Heroku and the Amazon RDS add-on, you'll need to make the change in the database.yaml file, and also change the DB URL in the RDS add-on configs to use mysql2:// instead of mysql://

ditto @WilliamDenniss for clearDB mysql change DATABASE_URL=mysql2://... instead of DATABASE_URL=mysql://...
